  4.     There is one explanation for the misery and suffering of the
  5. people of Nicaragua (WORLD, July 24): the U.S.'s unjust
  6. intervention in the economy and politics of Nicaragua, beginning
  7. in the past century and continuing to this day.

  12.     It has never been the intent of the Sandinistas to allow full
  13. political and economic freedom for Nicaraguans. For any positive
  14. changes to occur, the Sandinistas must be subjected to persistent
  15. pressure and vociferous disapproval. I pray that those in the U.S.
  16. Congress who make excuses for this oppressive Communist regime have
  17. not sealed the fate of the unfortunate Nicaraguan people.
